Another Brickworks
Finally! Its over! Both Christmas and New Year have passed and I’m stoked. Each yeah I seem to hate it more and more. I guess I’m a creature of routine and dont like it being messed with. So I can get back to normal now…
G also got back from holidays and we were both keen to get amongst it. We both really enjoyed Hoffman brickworks so thought it was about time we did the other brickworks in town. So we trained out east, (love the graff on the eastern lines, always a treat) and started walking.
We’d looked it up on the net a few times (Thanks Victorian Heritage Society) but seemed to walk past it to some watertower looking thing. We had a look at that. Weird place… A live site, but we had no idea what it was. I could look it up, but I’m enjoying my imaginations of it being some sort of secret, government run chemical or medical testing lab. Its sparce roof looks like it covers at least an acre (showing my country roots) surrounded by pine trees it looks as if it has been built mostly in the ground and has just two doors entry, a few hatches in the roof and only a shower and eyewash station out front? Then the water tower. What the?
So we realised this wasnt the brickworks and looked it up again. We found a great article by ‘The Leader’ published that morning, claiming the local police have pledged to monitor the site with periodical checks by patrol units after residents complained the site is becoming a home for vandals and squatters.
So we thought we better check it out now or never. Glad we did. Was a great site to explore. Easy access as the fence was down at the nearby park, except it was full of ‘angry residents’ that we didnt want to upset. We werent there to graff, just there to take pictures (which aren’t the best sorry. I’m really not a photographer. I just like documenting what I see. I can’t be assed making setting adjustments etc if I really dont have to. I usually shoot on auto…I can already hear the photographers cringing)
We made it to the top, saw some interesting bird arrangements (dead hanging from roof, 2 babies under mummy, double suicide in silo…) took a shit load of photos then left. Its good to be back to routine…

Ah the East… I know that train line too well, and I don’t miss it
